Executive Director, WPATH

Veritas Association Management seeks a seasoned, passionate, team leader for the role of Executive Director, World Professional Association of Transgender Health (WPATH).

Position Summary

The Executive Director serves as chief staff officer for the society in the formulation of new policies and makes decisions within existing policies as approved by the Board of Directors. They serve as liaison with the Board of Directors of the Society leveraging Veritas resources to plan, organize, direct, and coordinate the staff and administrative activities. They take a pivotal role in managing and implementing programs approved by the Board to assure that objectives are achieved, strategic plan fulfilled, and member needs met. Maintain effective internal and external relationships.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Expand the organization’s global impact as a leader in transgender health.
  • Serve as an active liaison for all WPATH Regional and Affiliate organizations
  • Develop an effective working relationship and communication process with the Executive Committee and Board of Directors.
  • Ensure a dynamic strategic thinking process with active engagement of board, volunteers, and staff.
  • Develop and implement board policies and systems to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization.
  • Report ongoing measurement of deliverables for projects and initiatives.
  • Acquire substantive knowledge of the organization’s programs and services.
  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop a clear strategic vision for the organization.
  • Support the organization’s mission of strengthening advocacy efforts advancing transgender health equity.
  • Continuously improve processes for the organization to meet both long- and short-term objectives.
  • Ensure corporate compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage financial activity, taking accountability for planning and budgeting meeting financial objectives.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the financial resources and expenditures of the organization by creating business models and budgets around all new initiatives.
  • Ensure financial reports are presented to the board for approval on a monthly basis.
  • Identify and develop new funding opportunities through a strategic development plan.
  • Establish a system linking strategic and operational planning with the organization’s budget process.
  • Provide strategic leadership and financial direction for all committee chairs including GEI.
  • Serve as the Executive Director of USPATH providing strategic leadership and financial direction.  
  • Manage direct reports to ensure all minutes and action items are completed in a timely manner and reported to the leadership in a project management tool.  (smartsheets, excel etc.)

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or commensurate experience.
  • Certified Association Executive (CAE) preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in senior level medical non-profit association management.
  • Demonstrated strategic ability and experience managing and working with a volunteer organization.
  • Ability to articulate a vision, create consensus, and motivate people.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with an understanding of association laws, contracts, etc.
  • Intermediate computer proficiency.
